Italian Gymnastics in Rotterdam with eleven athletes for the Senior World Championships

(PRIMASPORT) ROTTERDAM From October 17 to 25, the Rotterdam Ahoy Arena will host the 54th Senior World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, an event that will also award the first Olympic spots for Los Angeles 2028. The Italian delegation, led by National Councilor Fabrizio Lupi and composed of eleven athletes, is aiming to achieve a prestigious result in a competition with a particularly selective format.

The men's team features Yumin Abbadini, Mario Macchiati, Gabriele Targhetta, Simone Speranza, and Niccolò Vannucchi, with Riccardo Villa as reserve. A mix of experience and youth for a group that has already proven its worth at the continental level. The women's team will feature Manila Esposito, Elisa Iorio, Sofia Tonelli, July Marano, and Giulia Perotti, hoping to replicate or improve on their recent European team success.

The qualifying format uses a 5-4-3 system, with five gymnasts forming the team, four entering the competition, and the best three scores being added together. The final, on the other hand, uses a 5-3-3 system with no margin for error, with three athletes per apparatus and all scores counting.

The official start will be on Saturday, October 17th, with the opening ceremony and the start of the men's qualifications, followed by the women's competitions. Rai Sport will broadcast the team and individual finals live. The Italian Gymnastics Federation will follow the competition live on its official channels, including social media with the Instagram account fedeginnastica_official. (PRIMASPORT)
