SPAIN – Spain national team coach Luis De La Fuente has expressed his support for Lamine Yamal's candidacy for the Ballon d'Or, following the young striker's brilliant performance in the Nations League match against Croatia, which ended 4-1 in favor of Spain.
Yamal made a significant contribution to the victory with two goals and an assist, earning praise from the coach, who highlighted both his individual and team contributions. "I must highlight Lamine's work; he's a very generous player who puts all his talent and brilliance into the service of the team," said De La Fuente.
The coach also emphasized how Spain deserves greater recognition on the international football scene: "Spanish football deserved more than one Ballon d'Or winner in its history, citing names like Xavi and Iniesta. The time has come to showcase our talent once again, because our players are among the best in the world," he added, mentioning other players such as Cucurella, Fabian Ruiz, and Ferran Torres.
