At the 2026 European Trap Shooting Championships, Italy won four medals in the Senior Trap event, with Stanco and Rossi on the podium.

ATHENS – Italy confirms its leading role in the 2026 European Clay Shooting Championships, in progress at Athens, winning four medals in the competitions Trap Senior. On the platforms of the Malakasa Shooting Complex, the Italian national team won a gold medal in the women's team competition, two silver medals and a bronze medal. Standing out in the individual events were Silvana Maria Stanco, second place, and Jessica Rossi, climbing to the third step of the podium. Satisfaction also came from the team competitions, with the women winning the European title and the men obtaining a silver medal. Attention now shifts to the competitions Mixed Team, which will close the continental event.

(PRIMASPORT) Italy's women's final featured a full trio. Silvana Maria Stanco (Fiamme Gialle) from Sturno (AV), European Champion in Larnaca (CYP) in 2022 and second-best qualifier with 120/125 +1, dominated the medal race, leading all the heats. Ultimately, the Spaniard earned the gold medal and the European Champion title with a score of 26/30, while Italy took silver with a score of 24/30. “I'm very bitter right now – explained the silver medalist at Paris 2024 at the end of the final – Up until the twenty-fifth clay, I shot well and with complete control. The zero I made at the start of the final duel distracted me, and I couldn't clear my mind. I'm truly disappointed because the gold was within my reach. I know it may sound presumptuous to be disappointed about a silver, but that's how I feel now.”. Jessica Rossi (Fiamme Oro) from Crevalcore (BO) took third place. The 2012 London Olympian was the best in the qualifications, finishing with a score of 121/125. In the final, she remained in the leading group, easily passing all the preliminaries and earning the bronze medal with a score of 20/25. “This is a challenging season where I'm trying to fit in the mother/athlete that I want to be, it's not easy but it's giving me great satisfaction. – explained the two-time European Champion (Osijek (CRO) 2009 and Suhl (GER) 2013, ed.) – There's still work to be done on these finals, but given how they're structured, getting on the podium means having had a great race!”. To console the Azzurre came the World Team Championships Title, won with a total of 359/375 ahead of her Spanish and Finnish opponents, who came second with 345/375 and third with 344/375 respectively.

The only Italian to have reached the final was Erminio Frasca. The policeman from Priverno (LT) punched his ticket to the podium in a challenging playoff, and with a score of 122/125 +13, he showed up at the starting blocks wearing number six. With a score of 8/10, he then had to settle for eighth place. The three Italians made up for it with the silver medal in the team event, winning with a score of 364/375. Ahead of them was Turkey, gold with the same total but a better final series, and behind them was Croatia, also with the same score but a worse final series. “Well done to the girls and also to the boys, who tried to do their best without neglecting any detail. – commented the National Technical Director Marco Conti – Despite some disappointments, I still consider today's result positive. Now we'll focus on the final fixtures of this long European Championship, which in my opinion was too long, and we'll get straight to work for the World Championships."”.

Tomorrow the European Championship 2026 will conclude with the Mixed Team competitions. For the Juniors, the following will take to the stage: Maria Iovinella with Francesco Tanfoglio e Valentina Archetti with Luca Gerri, while among the Seniors mixed couples will compete, composed of Jessica Rossi e Massimo Fabbrizi and from Silvana Maria Stanco with Erminio Frasca. The finals will begin with the Junior finals at 3:00 PM. (PRIMASPORT)
