VÉLEZ-PEÑAS BLANCAS – The 19th stage of the Vuelta a España, 210 kilometers from Vélez-Peñas Blancas to Estepona, was won by Eddie Dunbar. The Irishman was among the day's attackers, overtaking his breakaway teammate Santiago Buitrago in the final 300 meters of the climb. Buitrago, a strong contender for the polka-dot jersey for best climber, but still without his first stage win, finished jointly with the top five riders in the general classification, with the same time, 5:11 behind the winner. Therefore, Enric Mas retained the red leader's jersey with a 1:37 advantage over Primoz Roglic. The final major mountain stage, finishing at the Collado del Alguacil, is scheduled for Saturday, September 12th, before the grand finale in Granada.
