Andy Diouf is establishing himself as a key player on Inter's right flank, despite his traditional role as a central midfielder. In a recent interview with L'Equipe, the midfielder explained how this position was born out of necessity, calling it an "absolutely crazy" choice and a grueling experience that often leaves him "destroyed" at the end of matches.
Diouf explained that playing on the wing requires performing tasks similar to those of a winger, with the added duty of dropping back into defence, a role far from his roots. However, he clearly expressed his desire to return to his natural role as a midfielder, the position where he grew up and has his main reference points.
Despite this desire, Diouf emphasized his willingness to give his all even as a winger: "For now, I just want to be important to the team: if I can earn minutes as a full-back and establish myself at a team like Inter, then I will. I'm learning a lot from this experience.".
