PARIS – Ciro Immobile has announced his retirement from football. He did so after terminating his contract with Paris FC, whose post was published on their website. The 1990-born striker ended his career with 201 goals in Serie A, eighth in the all-time goalscoring charts. Born in Torre Annunziata, Ciro Immobile rose from the Juventus youth team to the Torino first team, topping the Serie A scoring charts for the first time in 2013-14, leading Ventura's Granata to European competition. He played for Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla before reaffirming his goalscoring prowess at Torino, sparking interest from Lazio. He topped the scoring charts three more times with the Biancocelesti, scoring a total of 207 goals for the Roman club in all competitions. He holds, along with Gonzalo Higuain, the record for goals scored in a single season in Serie A (36 in 2019-20). With Lazio, he won two Italian Super Cups and one Italian Cup. He also won the Golden Boot and was the Europa League's top scorer. With the national team (57 caps and 17 goals), he won the 2021 European Championship, scoring twice, once against Switzerland and once against Turkey. Throughout his career, he has played 656 matches, scoring 350 goals.

But for me, now is the time to be with my family, who have followed me everywhere since I was 17. I've made my decision: I'm stopping playing and I wish everyone the best.
