Brazil national football team coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed the end of Neymar's career and reiterated his intention to prioritize youth development in rebuilding the team. In an interview with CNN Esportes, Ancelotti explained that Neymar, despite being an extraordinary and irreplaceable talent, has already expressed his desire not to return to the national team following the criticism he received for his performance at the recent World Cup.
“"He deserved to be there for his qualities," said the coach, defending Neymar's call-up to the last World Cup. He added that the national team's renewal is already underway, with the inclusion of several young players born between 2004 and 2006 in the latest squads, and that there are even younger players, born in 2008, who could be considered in the future.
“"I believe we need to proceed step by step. Right now—for the first match and the subsequent friendlies leading up to the World Cup—we need to focus on the young players who could be part of the future," Ancelotti concluded.
