Brescia – The Italian Paracycling Championships, held in Zoppola, in the province of Pordenone, saw Active Team La Leonessa collect 17 podium finishes, including three Italian titles. A long series of impressive results, particularly notable were the two Italian national titles won by Marianna Agostini, who dominated both Saturday's time trial and the road race in the tandem event for visually impaired athletes, and by Mirko Testa, who once again led the national team in the H3 handbike category, despite a slight indisposition that prevented him from reaching full fitness. Yet, despite the difficulties and under a torrential downpour, he still managed to secure his seventh Italian national title, beating his national teammates Davide Cortini and Martino Pini in the sprint. The previous day's time trial podium was identical, but with the positions reversed, with the Bergamo native finishing third behind Pini and Cortini. Marianna Agostini, with guide Lucrezia Noemi Eremita, instead scored the double, confirming a condition that gives hope for the big event of 2026, namely the World Championship scheduled from 4 to 7 September in Huntsville (Alabama, United States).
The Huntsville World Championships is naturally the next target for Testa, already world champion in 2023, as well as for reigning world champion Federico Andreoli, who will attempt to defend his title in the tandem event for visually impaired athletes in the United States. In Zoppola, the Milanese rider—with Francesco Di Felice—finished with two second-place finishes, beaten each time by fellow Italian Lorenzo Bernard, suffering on a course unsuited to his abilities. Also on the podium were Giuseppe Uberti, Simona Canipari, and Vito Lascaro in the handbike event, and Mirko Pini, Giulio Bertani, and Nico Sartini in the standing paracycling event. Marco Colombo, president of Active Sport, cited the debut at the Italian Championships of Ettore Biancalani, an athlete from Prato who chose to join the Brescia-based club because he was inspired by the story of Mirko Testa's sporting resurgence, brand ambassador for the sports therapy project in collaboration with Domus Salutis.
