BERGAMO – Fiorentina and Atalanta close out their ninth-round fixture on Thursday evening, October 29, at the Artemio Franchi Stadium. Maurizio Sarri faces the away match at Fiorentina with seven outfield players unavailable, the same number as before the home game, which ended in a goalless draw with Frosinone. Giorgio Scalvini and Kamaldeen Sulemana, who have been called up for the match against Florence, are back in action due to Raoul Bellanova's muscle injury and Gianluca Scamacca's precautionary sidelines. At the end of the match against Frosinone, he suffered a strain in his right thigh flexor muscles, and his condition will be reevaluated next week. Bellanova, who has already begun rehabilitation, suffered a low-grade strain of the long adductor muscle in his left leg. These two players are expected to be included in the starting lineup or rotation, and Sarri will have to do without them. Scalvini, who was injured on October 12 during the win against Venezia, will necessarily return gradually. Even more so, Kamaldeen Sulemana, who has practically never played any official matches this season having been injured two and a half months ago, during the summer friendly against Schalke 04. It goes without saying that with the addition of the absences of Kossounou, Hien and Kolasinac in defense, Kessié in midfield and Raspadori In attack, Sarri is faced with forced choices, at least for the backline, consisting of center-backs Kristensen and Obric and wing-backs Zappacosta and Bernasconi. With the 4-2-3-1 formation almost certainly retained, Pasalic is expected to partner Gaetano in midfield, leaving Ederson to rest. Up front, only Krstovic is available as a central striker, while the two wing-back spots are available between De Ketelaere, Rowe, Elmas, and Zalewski. The 20-man squad called up by Sarri also includes young defenders Plaia and Idele. The fan contingent is understandably small for a midweek evening match. Fifty-two will support Atalanta as they face Vanoli's Fiorentina, who themselves are without center-backs Ranieri and Pongracic.
