A performance built on solidity on the uneven bars and beam, with only two errors on floor exercise and a strong performance on vault.

The team led by national technical director Enrico Casella, composed of Manila Esposito, Elisa Iorio, July Marano, Sofia Tonelli, and Giulia Perotti, adhered to the planned technical program, building their results especially on the two most reliable apparatus. The "Fairies" got off to an encouraging start on the uneven bars. Elisa Iorio achieved the best Italian score with a 14.466, followed by Giulia Perotti (14.366) and Sofia Tonelli (13.500). July Marano's 13.300 completed the rotation, leaving the team with a score of 42.332.

The second rotation on beam was equally positive, with Manila Esposito confirming her qualities with an excellent 14.200, the highest score of the team on the apparatus. Giulia Perotti (13.833) and Sofia Tonelli (13.600) also performed well, while Marano earned a 12.633. The contributions of the top three bring another 41.633 points to the Italian total. The only less impressive performance came on floor, where Perotti (11.800) and Tonelli (11.700) encountered difficulties on the final acrobatic diagonal, particularly in the final double vault. Manila Esposito scored 13.233, July Marano 12.633, for a team score of 37.666. The response on vault was immediate. Sofia Tonelli led the quartet with a strong 13.900, followed by Elisa Iorio (13.466), July Marano (13.433), and Giulia Perotti (13.033). Three well-executed one-and-a-half twists allowed Italy to add 40.799 points, bringing the final total to 162.430.

At the end of the first day of qualifications, the Fairies provisionally occupy second place, behind the United States of America (164,529), just 2,099 points behind, and ahead of Japan (161,630).

Encouraging signs also come from the individual all-around competition, where the two young Italian all-arounders are nearing the top of the provisional standings. Giulia Perotti is fifth with 53,032 points, closely followed by Sofia Tonelli, sixth with 52,700. These placings are even more significant considering the regulatory limit of two gymnasts per nation admitted to the final: with three Americans in the top four, Perotti and Tonelli would virtually occupy fourth and fifth place among the eligible athletes. This double result confirms the competitiveness of the two young ItalGAF performers—despite the floor penalties—both fully in contention for a spot in the 24-person all-around final.

The provisional specialty rankings also showed excellent results, with the Fairies leading the way on three of the four events. This was also due to the fact that no one vaulted twice. On beam, Manila Esposito is in second place with 14.200 points, just 0.66 behind Japan's Mana Okamura (14.266), while Giulia Perotti is fifth with 13.833. On uneven bars, Elisa Iorio is second with 14.466, behind Germany's Helen Kevric (14.766), and Perotti is in third place with 14.366. Also noteworthy is Manila Esposito's provisional third place on floor exercise, thanks to a personal best of 13.233, behind Americans Reese Esponda (13.633) and Claire Pease (13.333).

Enrico Casella was satisfied and, at the end of the race, he especially emphasized the group's endurance: «We couldn't have hoped for anything better. After the first day, we're ahead of Japan and behind the United States, without being too far behind. The girls are all doing well. We knew we'd have some difficulties on floor, and indeed we paid a price, but where we could have made a difference, on bars and beam, we did. The three and a half twists on vault also paid off very well. We managed to maintain a standard above 160 points, which puts us in a very good position to make the top eight. This would also be crucial because it would mean we'd already qualified for the World Championships in Chengdu. Manila has excellent chances on beam and some hope on floor, as do Elisa and Giulia on bars. I think Perotti and Tonelli will have no problems in the all-around, thus securing the two qualifying spots in the all-around final.
