In a series of messages posted on Instagram, the young lineswoman criticized the way some media outlets and social media users have focused attention on her physical appearance, downplaying her commitment to the sport: &quot;I&#039;ve been playing this sport for 10 years now. Ten years of training, matches, sacrifice, passion, and commitment that cannot be reduced to my physical appearance.&quot;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Vigile underlined how unacceptable it is for a woman in sport to be perceived as an object of sexual attention simply because she is young and a woman or for having shared personal photographs: &quot;The fact that a woman chooses what to wear, how to show herself or what to publish on her social media does not authorize anyone to sexualize her or reduce her to her body.&quot;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">The lineswoman also emphasized how her femininity can coexist with her professional role, highlighting the unequal treatment between men and women in sports: &quot;If a man reaches a certain level in sport, we talk about his performance. When a woman does it, too often we end up talking about her body. It&#039;s precisely this mentality that we need to change.&quot;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">She concludes her message with a plea for respect: &quot;Women in sports don&#039;t have to be less feminine to be taken seriously. They simply need to be respected. My body is not an invitation. My femininity is not an invitation. A photograph is not consent.
