He is the first rider to win three stages on July 14, surpassing, among others, Jacques Anquetil, whose list of victories also includes two overall victories on this special day. It was a brutal stage with a whopping 3,800 meters of elevation gain spread across 166.6 km from Aurillac to Le Lioran. The French riders conquered the day&#039;s seven climbs, with Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost) the last to give up, but no one could resist the attack of the Slovenian, a four-time Tour winner, on the final climb of the day, the Col de Pertus. He ultimately took his 24th stage win of the Tour with a 32-second advantage over Remco Evenepoel (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe).
